About the Artist
“The truth behind my paintings is that I get lost in many layers of colors and emotions.”
Maria Gabriela de Orleans e Bragança prefers to be called by her childhood nickname, Lelli, both in her personal and artistic life. A descendant of families who reigned in Bavaria and Brazil, she was born and raised in the countryside. She was taught to paint from an early age by her parents, both talented artists. She graduated in Art and Design from a university in Rio de Janeiro and then enrolled in the prestigious Van der Kelen Art Schoolin Belgium, where she completed the course first in her class and received a medal of excellence. She lived and worked for several years in Europe before returning to Brazil, where she began to portray the exotic and diverse landscapes that so enchant her.

Lelli maintains a deep and intense connection with nature. She spent years traveling through the different ecosystems of Brazil: from the Amazon rainforest in the north to the temperate forests of the south, walking through the central plateaus and exploring the coastal wildlife. Inspired by these journeys, her work captures the subjective atmosphere of each landscape, acquiring a dimension that goes beyond simple aesthetic quality.
Lush tropical forests depicted in countless shades of green, palm trees rising through mists, birds in flight and the touch of a butterfly resting on a leaf...
The art of Lelli de Orleans e Bragança captures the observer's gaze, leading to a magical vision of natural tropical beauty from her unique perspective. "My goal is to portray a peaceful environment that doesn't reveal everything at first glance; one needs to look closely to find the hidden details," she explains.

With a timeless style, her brush brings exotic and mysterious landscapes to life, with a nod to Impressionism that sometimes borders on the abstract. Different shades of color, arranged in multiple layers, cover her canvases so that the breeze swaying the palm trees and the soft mist enveloping the forest seem almost palpable.
